Rogue River Institute

In consideration of being allowed to participate in Rogue River Institute (“RRI”) activities and events, including but not limited to rafting, boating, camping, transportation, outdoor recreation, and related activities, I agree as follows:

1. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participation in RRI activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: water hazards, drowning, collisions, changing river conditions, rapids, uneven terrain, wildlife encounters, weather exposure, transportation risks, equipment failure, and the acts or omissions of other participants or volunteers.

I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable.

I understand that RRI may conduct background checks, including sex offender registry checks, and I consent to such checks. Information obtained will be kept confidential. RRI reserves the right to refuse participation to any individual.

2. Personal Property
I assume full responsibility for all personal items and equipment I bring to RRI activities. RRI is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, or misplaced property and has no obligation to investigate or provide compensation for such losses.

3. Release of Liability
I release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Rogue River Institute, its board members, officers, volunteers, participants, agents, contractors, landowners, and affiliated organizations (collectively “Releasees”) from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation, including claims arising from the ordinary negligence of the Releasees, to the fullest extent permitted under Oregon law. This release does not apply to gross negligence or willful misconduct.

4. Indemnification
I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Releasees from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, or expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising out of my participation or arising from claims brought by others as a result of my actions.

5. Medical Authorization
In the event of injury or medical emergency, I authorize RRI to obtain medical treatment on my behalf if I am unable to provide consent. I understand that I am solely responsible for any medical costs incurred.

6. Media and Photo Release
I grant RRI permission to photograph, video record, and otherwise capture my image, likeness, voice, and participation during activities. I authorize RRI to use such materials for educational, promotional, fundraising, and outreach purposes in print, digital, and social media formats without compensation.

7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Oregon. Any legal action arising out of or relating to this Agreement or participation in RRI activities shall be brought exclusively in the State of Oregon.

8. Authorized Representative
If I am signing this Agreement on behalf of another adult participant, I represent and warrant that I have legal authority to do so (including legal guardianship, power of attorney, or other lawful authorization), that the participant consents to participation, and that I am authorized to execute this Agreement on their behalf. I understand that signing without proper authority may result in personal liability.

9. Severability
If any portion of this Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

10. Acknowledgment
I certify that I have read this Agreement carefully, understand its contents, and agree to its terms voluntarily. I understand that by agreeing to this document, I am waiving certain legal rights.

Parent/Guardian of Minor Participant
If the participant is under 18 years of age, I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the minor and consent to the minor’s participation. I agree to all terms of this Agreement on behalf of the minor and myself.
